I just bought this recently and although I did notice the discoloration at the base, it felt firm so I assumed it was just corking and not rotting. But now a couple months later it's turning brown at the tips? I've only watered it a small amount maybe two or three times and I checked to make sure it was well draining. It's not in direct sunlight either so I wouldn't think it's sunburn.. Does the discoloration look like rot? Fungus? Is there anything I can do?
