I rarely give the established semps much in the way of fertilizer. I do treat the seedlings with Quick Start every other week at a half the recommended dose, and treat newly transplanted varieties once with the same solution. I have given the entire patch a treatment with QuickStart with no harm.
Helen Payne fertilized hers much more often, although she was trying to initiate offsets for sale. Stay away from the high N fertilizers as they will promote too lush growth and rot.
The thing that makes semps MOST happy is to be transplanted to fresh soil.
