But again, I can't imagine why a manufacturer would make such a product.

Maybe it falls to you to rig something up. For example, my long armed string trimmer comes with a strap that goes up and over my shoulder. This does help me to use that strap as a fulcrum point making it easier for me to keep the whole machine level.
Maybe if you did it in sections with significant rest breaks in between?

Have you looked into a brush hog wheeled vehicle like I have seen advertised on television. Maybe one of those could be set to cut at your desired height?
