I think you will be surprised to find that many roses will thrive in your zone. I would avoid Hybrid teas unless you want to pamper them, but I have lots of old garden roses that do well here which is also hot and humid. Knock Outs would be an easy start to help establish your rose addiction. It is one of the Earthkind roses that have passed the test of neglect with flying colors.
