Do you know exactly what that plant is? Determining the genus and species will help you give it the proper care. The only 'Velvet tree" I found online is an invasive tropical species with very specific needs if grown as a houseplant. Shrug!

Whatever it is, I agree with the above, it shows symptoms of not enough light or water. Also could use more soil in that pot
