Thread OP

Hello, I've had this velvet tree for years and it's never been very happy. I've tried different locations, watering less etc. Over the last year its grown new arms, it started off as a single forked plant. But its very leggy and skinny, it cant support itself. What can I do with it?

Hey,

Still a nice looking plant.

Looks dry. When you water, soak the roots.

Guessing, but if the soil is too dry when you water, most of the moisture will never touch the roots. It just runs off the sides.

I don't know this plant.
But allow yourself to try and find a new home for any plant that you have 'tried everything' and it still is not happy. Smiling
There are many other 'fish in the sea' plant wise.
and Welcome!
If you describe where you want to have a plant and what sort of size, (best as a new thread titled something like 'help me choose a plant',) people here would make suggestions.
Plant it and they will come.

Humboldt has a good tip about watering.
Keep in mind as well, plants that can't support themselves are often those that haven't had enough light for strong growth.
Plant it and they will come.

Do you know exactly what that plant is? Determining the genus and species will help you give it the proper care. The only 'Velvet tree" I found online is an invasive tropical species with very specific needs if grown as a houseplant. Shrug!

Whatever it is, I agree with the above, it shows symptoms of not enough light or water. Also could use more soil in that pot

Hi! It looks like a Peperomia Liadenis (Velvel Tree). It looks a little thirsty and shows signs of etiolation (stretching). Peperomias like bright indirect light and lots of water but wait for the soil to dry between waterings. Check the soil/roots and transplant if you have to since you meantioned you've had it for a few years but we don't have much details. Hope this helps and it bounces back!
