Alice, I'm with you on the home fireworks thing. They're expensive (where do people get the money to waste on them??) dangerous, they stink and they cause so much terrible noise. They terrorize animals and birds, not to mention people like soldiers with PTSD . . . a lot of reasons to just outright ban them. We were picking up the trash from them left on the street on our walk this morning.

Happy to say the neighbors were relatively good about at least stopping the noise right after midnight. We used to have one that kept the silliness going until 2 or 3am.

When cities and Counties spend taxpayer money on a beautiful big public fireworks show, why people feel they must also set off their own fireworks is quite beyond me.
