I start my peppers AND my tomatoes mid Feb for Plant-Out Day a day or so after Mother's Day.

Seems to work for me.

For someone who won't eat peppers (sweet OR hot) I sure am growing alot this year: chile de Arbol (one from Baja CA and t'other from Oaxaca Mexico) . Crzig's Grande Jalapeno and Jalapeno M, Mexican Sunset, and two varieties of Hot Hungarian Wax yellow banana peppers/
