It was a greenhouse grown plant. As long as the soil is not frozen it is safe to plant them now. I have several wisterias in zone 8 snow and icy winters for many years…or just leave it in the pot until it's safe to plant keep it trimmed back to produce flower buds. See wiateria pruning on you tube videos. It will send up flower buds if it is pruned properly when planted.
