Its growing like that because they never gave it a support to climb. You may not be able to straighten it out. You can try unearthing any adventitious roots that have rooted and are holding it down and see if you can get it straighter, then attach to to a real support (not that silly little bamboo stick) like a thick moss pole, a thick coir wrapped pole, or a nice piece of wood. Even a piece of untreated fence board.
You don't say where you live in FL. If you live in 9A with a really good microclimate or 9B and above you can let it grow outside up a tree
