Bev, ok, I am in upstate NY, but this might help. After my lupines go to seed, we mow them off. That helps with the grass problem and assorted other weeds, and it gives the plants a break. They come back up slowly and then over-winter much smaller than if we'd left them. I have pictures of this year's batch that I'll get downloaded soo.
