One of the things I really love about SDB's is that they almost always bloom the year after planted. With a lot of TB's I have to wait a year for bloom. Schreiner's irises are always good to bloom the next year but I have one I got as a bonus last year 'Coal Seams', which promises to be very dark, and it is not only not showing a bloom stalk but some of its leaves are thin and droopy. They feel like fabric in your fingers and you can straighten them up and let go and they will fall back over. I have never seen that in a bearded iris.
Thro' all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul— How can I keep from singing?
