If you don't know batik, it's an ancient method of dyeing and/or discharging the color from fabric using melted wax as a "resist." That's the elevator explanation, anyways. If you do know batik then I'm gonna bet you've never seen anything like mine. Being a self taught artist I don't have to adhere to the "rules." I've developed a batik style I call "deviant discharge batik." I start with black cotton, wax where I want it to remain black, discharge the color from the non-waxed areas then add dye back in.
