I must admit to wanting instant gratification. My available planting space is nearly full so I am only adding a few select Hostas now. I plant for instant effect realizing that in a year or two they will be to crowded. I'm 71 with old blood clots in my legs, total knee replacements, and several other health problems. I take a handful of pills each day. 29 more years for me would make me 100. Thumbs down There are several Hostas that I grow that are 2 or 3 years old in my garden. I love the way they look now. I've seen Hostas of the same cultivar that are very mature and actually prefer the "middle-aged" ones.
