Let's just hope this winter isn't as cruel. I know what the Farmer's Almanac says, but they are occasionally, very occasionally, wrong. Hoping!

Deborah, IDK anything about gingers, but wouldn't put anything under plastic like that. To zone-cheat, a huge pile of leaves can work wonders. Dark color containers of water, a surround of dark pavers, depending on what the spot will allow. Whatever you decide, I hope it works well!
