Thankyou, Lynn for all the hard and informative work you do here. Adding root health and size would be a huge help for us newbies. I have kept my new planters almost dry. Just enough moister to stimulate root growth. It rained today, so for the first time they got what could blow in under gazebo. There are no new white roots on my recent plantings, except on my first planting about a month ago and they are holding themselves in the soil now. Root info on these guys would be extremely helpful. Again thankyou for all your help. Should I wait to do fun new plantings or are they hardy enough to move around? I have tons of experience with succulents, just not these.

@Esperanza I finally got a few photos of sempervivum roots for you. These are from 3 different sempervivum varieties represented. All are semps rosettes that are normally 1 1/2 inches to 3 inches at maturity. You can see that some put out a much more extensive root system, and some put out a shorter thicker root system. This will differ according to growing conditions. I hope this is helpful.

If any of you have photos of sempervivum root systems, please feel free to post them here. Thumbs up
