Paul, I recently planted a hybrid from Ariadne . It's one of Judith's she calls 'Descant'. She had developed this hybrid some time ago and never released it because she felt it did not perform well enough in her fields. Then one day a few years ago a stray lily turned up at Lynnette Westfall's Valley K Lily Ranch that grew quite well (a large grower/seller in zone 2, Canada). It took a while to figure it out, but it was finally identified by Judith herself as Descant. I obtained mine from Lynnette Westfall, but I see now that Judith is offering it as well. It's a soft, buff yellow.
I think one of the greatest hybrids Judith Freeman ever created was 'Seafarer', a light spicey scented, cantaloupe orange colored Trumpet Asiatic hybrid. Everything about that plant comes together in perfect total harmony, from it's height and stiff stem to it's densely populated, long slender dark green leaves, to it's perfect pedicel length and arrangement and inflorescence of bud count of 20+ The way the colors interact with the light of dawn and dusk is indescribable. Color fast and long lasting flowers.
