It does look similar, Lyn. Its been several years since I've done any more research, and I just have been looking at the Pacific Bulb Society info on species, and see a few that look to be potential matches. Hippeastrum puniceum looks to be a possibility.

When these bloom in summer, they're out on the deck receiving a lot more light. The blooms at that time are much deeper in color. The blooms are about 4" across.
