The image is a face on shot rather than from the side, the petals are standing up some.. although not as much as in Curt's catalog/registration image. There can be variations with the extreme folding in the pleated form and how far up the petal it occurs on each bloom. In addition to the pleated folds seen on the petals surface, extreme folding involves one or two additional folds toward the back of the petal. I've found that they do like to settle in to perform at their best and even then they can still have some variation in the pleating.
