I realize this is kind of an old question--don't know if the OP is still looking or not--but there are a lot of great smelling, smaller daphnes to try
this is my baby 'Lawrence Crocker' tonight

( @Bonehead I got it from Arrowhead Alpines and I think maybe I saw it at Siskiyou RPN once too and Wrightman Alpines has it)
and my little 'Ernst Houser' is coming along nicely too
