Blotching in early stages that might have been exposed to excessively cold temps isn't that unusual. But to have the same cultivar exposes to the same environmental conditions and exhibiting such variation makes me uneasy, too. Can you verify that the affected nose is from the same bulb as the affected stem of last year?
