Cindi and Porkpal. You're right! In the ground they go. Thanks for the reassurance that all will be fine in spite of the hot weather, if I take precautions, Cindi. And, you're not missing anything. I'm the one missing -- knowledge of good rose gardening. 
Porkpal, I sure don't need any extra work to do, especially not in this heat.
