I think that identifying plants is a particularly valuable thing to do for people.

Knowing the correct identification lets you look up the entire world's cumulative knowledge about that plant, and try relatives. It gives clues about things you might change or test in the plant's care.

Or, perhaps, knowing its relatives allows some people to avoid any closely related plant ever again, if it was a thug or had other undesirable traits.!

Otherwise, all you know is: "It's green and kinda pretty and did or didn’t come back for me."Thank you, Plant ID Gurus!
