Hi Julie. While I know what tetraploid means (44 chromosomes?) I have never tried to cross this plant with any of my other daylilies, so I could not say one way or the other.

I do not think Night Wings is what I have, for a number of reasons. The bloom at its' fullest is only 3.5 to 4 inches across, and it seems Night Wings is much closer to 6 inches. Mine is black over red-orange and the throat is orange with no hint of green or yellow. And, Night Wings was introduced in 1985, and I purchased this one on sale for $3.50 per gallon container in 1986 and lastly, the scapes on this plant are on average 22 to 24 inches while Night Wings is closer to 30 inch scapes..

It can get very frustrating trying to figure this one out. Thanks for offering your help. I tip my hat to you.
