Speaking of yards, there are several services that now spray for mosquitoes and guarantee no mosquito for 28 days. Mosquitoes don't generally bother me (but I sure wouldn't want to die from West Nile!

), but my wife can go out for 15 seconds, and if there is a mosquito within a quarter mile, she comes in with a bite. I can stay out for eight hours and never get a bite (that I am award of anyway).
