I am on vacation, and in my zeal for better landscaping started lining the edge of my flower bed. It is a curved bed edge and after trying a couple of stone combinations, I found one that worked for me, but the trajectory of the border is headed straight for a herbaceous peony (Sorbet).

My understanding is that the main reason for not moving a peony this time of year is that the plant forms buds this time of year. Is that correct? This particular peony has never bloomed, and is still fairly small, so I am thinking that might not be a concern. Also, we're headed into a week that is moderately warm, with intermittent rain.

Please excuse my messy garden below - you can't see the peony for the lilies, but I'm thinking of moving some of the irises to put in the peony.
