I'm not sure of the amount of moisture in the soil but all the bushes and plants seem to be healthy in their wild sort of way. I know that the ground isn't wet but then it isn't bone dry either. I do know that even on the hottest days, which aren't many, it remains cool in the shadowed area under the trees.
I'm glad about the pine needles, there's plenty of them.
