I had wanted this plant just because I liked the common name but the specimens at the nursery were way too expensive.

When I brought home some plant swap orphans (scrawny, unlabeled leftovers - the ones nobody selected) there was a NOID plant that turned out to be a Salvia madrensis. I enjoyed watching it grow. and grow. It got so tall I could not believe it. Once it reached seven feet I stopped counting. Rolling on the floor laughing Everything about this plant is interesting; leaf texture, stalk shape and color, bloom size, height. If it would actually make seeds in my zone it would be a 100% perfect plant. Thumbs up
