The person that gave these beautiful flowers their 'non-botanical' name (Chilean jessamine - sp?) did a big mistake, since they are native to Argentina, not Chile.

Something similar happened with Tropaeolum tricolor (Bolivian nasturtium), since they are endemic to Chile.

Another example are Alstroemerias - although Chile has more endemic species than the other countries (Peru, Brazil, Bolivia and Argentina), you know them as Peruvian Lily. If I am not mistaken, all hybrids were obtained from Chilean endemic species.
