Thank you, Toni. I share your sentiments about people throwing away animals, but I would not have Minerva if they didn't. I think she may have been too much for her previous owners. It appears she may have had a voice box operation too ... she has a very hoarse and tiny meow which is unlike a Siamese who yowls loudly. She was picked up with a litter of non-Siamese kittens so she was probably a throw-away for several reasons. They think she's about 2 years old. If anyone has ever had a Siamese in season, you would know why a voice box operation was considered. Once you spay them, the awful sounds stop, though. I'm sure she appreciates her Fancy Feast, having the run of the house, and being able to sleep on the bed (or wherever her majesty pleases). She is an indoor cat until further notice.
