Ann, were they Z. aethiopica (like large white and Green Goddess) types or Z. rehmannii (available in many colors often with spotted leaves) types? I've had Z. rehmannii seed itself in the garden and bloom the 3rd year. They probably would bloom the 2nd with a longer growing season. I was surprised they survived the winter here, especially being so young.
