I live in California in the Central Valley. I had originally planed on having red, white, and blue climbing vines growing on my porch to make it cooler. The Blue flowers were the only plants that survived and that was the Moon-flower, which I discovered was very prolific and invasive if not constantly tended. I started with one potted plant and trained it to grow on my fence. Eventually, my entire front yard fence was covered with Moon-flower vines. Yes, the do die down in the winter, but in early spring they suddenly start sending tendrils out and "Boom" all of a sudden they are everywhere.
