Yes, starting from seed is best for growing fat caudexes. There are reputable seed vendors that do sell seeds that pretty nearly have all the characterics of the mother plant. I hear Ko and Rinoa are two of them. They also have grafted plants for sale...I acquired 10 from Rinoa. If you like really fat caudexes, then A. arabicums are super. The flowers, though, are only secondary to the beauty of the tree's form.
