Grand time at Farmer's Market

7 27 12 Friday

Although it was not big, the new Farmer's Market at Tagawa Gardens in Centennial was well supplied with interesing vendors.

I got what I went for: Tomatoes, Peaches and Zucchini.

From there my plant buddy, T1inkerbell, and  I proceeded to go on to Timberline Gardens.

I should have taken a picture of the $1.00 table but the plants there looked a bit sad, although had I taken time there might have been some hidden treasures.

I did get a snap of the sempervivum area.  I saw several of which I did not know the names.  Again perhaps a hidden treasure or two, but I had promised myself I would buy no more until I had cared for and wintered over the ones I have.

I will no doubt regret it later.

They have an extensive shade area.  I could have shopped for hours there but restrained myself, I do not have 1/2 acre or more to plant.

They had some nice pieces of Hypertufa and another area of "real" rock hollowed into wonderful containers..  I thought the Hypertufa was pricey, but the real rock was even more so.  I know that they rocks are worth their price but .....

Lynn this one is a picture of the sedum area.

And now for a mystery plant.. Any guesses.  I will give it a day or so then put it on the plant ID forum

We did see black clouds rolling over the metro area.  Some areas must have really gotten a good soaking.  Once again however my area got almost nothing.  Maybe 5 minutes of spitting rain.  Boo hoo.

we will plan another treasure hunt after the 1st of August when many more gardens put there product on sale.

Once more the rain passed me by
Posted on Jul 27, 2012 8:52 AM

Thusday 7 26 12

I had hoped to get up this morning to see wet ground.  But once again, no rain.

I should be thankful -- it would be awful to have the severe weather they are getting out east and south.

It did rain in many parts of our area, just not on me.  Nor on my plant buddy in Parker.  But the weekend brings more possiblilities for "scattered" showers.

It was a bit cooler today but the temps are on the rise again in next few days, but not 100+ PTL, just mid 90s.

I used the cooler morning to clean up a bit on my patio and re-arrange things.

Now if I could just figure out what to do with that danged hose.

Maybe I will ask my friend Ken from Church to come put up a hose holder.  It sure spoils the look of the area.

Some plants still struggling, others like their new spots to which I moved them (more shade.) My parsley planter is not putting out enough for even a two egg omelet.  Maybe I will check to see if I can buy more and use another pot.

Will go to Farmer's Markets Friday and maybe a couple more Nurseries

Another rainless day
Posted on Jul 23, 2012 9:18 AM

Yesterday, it really looked like we might get some rain.  But the storms rolled in and once again, dropped the rain somewhere else.

My plants are in extreme distress.  I have tried to move them to spots which provide some relief from the intense sun.  I do hope that they survive.

I must admit I am discouraged to see them drooping so.

Must get ot to see if I can get some more pictures.

Tragedy in Aurora

Tragedy in Aurora Yesterday 7 20 2012

My heart is heavy with the loss of life and the hurt so many experienced.

I pray for the family and loved ones of those who died and were injured.

Aurora and all the metro area are feeling the impact of the evil, senseless acts of troubled soul.

All of us are touched if only tangentially, as the young man visiting on a cross country bike trip was a friend of my church family.

Their daughter was shot in the head and has miraculously been cared for surgically closing the head wound; "miraculously survived the shooting, with 3 gunshot wounds to her armand one bullet that entered through the left side of her nose,  Led by the hands of the Great Physician, the surgeons did amazing work -removing the bullet, clearing out the bone fragments and closing the
hole so that her cerebral spinal fluid would not give room for infection to grow."

Our heart cries out "Why does evil exist in our world", "Why do evil men prosper"

I do not have the answers but I do know God is soverign and His heart too is heavy.  So we will cling to  the verses of promise. ”Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

We pray for all the wounded, that they will be healed.  May those who have suffered mental and spiritual wounds as well.  May they be comforted.

As our pastor has said;"May Jesus wrap HIS comforting arms around this whole city. We need Him!"

We will have a service of Lamentations and Hope on Sunday to seek our Lord and together mourn.

It seems our life's garden has been invaded by an evil creature come to steal joy from our hearts.  We will not let him win, we will yet continue to praise the Lord.

From the Presbyterian service of Lamentation and Hope:

O God, deliver our world from violence.
Grant, O God, that your holy and life-giving Spirit may
so move every human heart, that the barriers which divide us may crumble,
suspicions disappear, and hatreds cease, and that, with our divisions healed,
we might live in justice and peace; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

O God, deliver our world from the violence of indifference to the lives and the suffering of others.
God of compassion, you watch our ways, and weave out of terrible happenings wonders of goodness and grace.
Surround those who have been shaken by tragedy with a sense of your present love, and hold them in faith.
Though they are lost in grief, may they find you and be comforted; through Jesus Christ, who was dead,
but lives and rules this world with you.

O God, deliver our world from the violence that destroys lives.
We give you thanks, O God, for all who have fought the good fight,
finished their race, and kept the faith …
Give us the grace to follow them as they followed Christ.
Bring us, with them, to those things which no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
which you have prepared for those who love you.
To your name, with the church on earth and church in heaven, we ascribe all honor and glory,
forever and ever.

Amen
