Sunshine back and waters receding
Posted on Sep 17, 2013 6:13 PM

Bright sunshine all days today.

Most areas are seeing water going down to normal levels, although several small communities are inundated with water filled will sewage and it may take two weeks for it to be cleaned up.

Two friends have water in basements with loss of carpets and other things stored in the area.

Praying the weather stays moderate and a lot of work can be done before winter.

More folks brought out by helecopters today.

Remenecent of New Orleans, they spread sheets on their house tops or lawns to let the National Guard know they needed rescue.

I have no personal photos to add to the blog because I could not bear to take pictures of people's distress.

More rain and hail today
Posted on Sep 14, 2013 6:01 PM

More rain and hail is devastating even more areas.  Got about 6 more inches and they are telling us 3-6 more tomorrow.

The flooding is hitting areas previously un hit areas including Parker and the southern suburbs. Also heavy rains hitting the western slope over near Grand Junction, so they are under flood watch as well.

Rain and hail this afternoon has hit my area.  Waiting for next round.

Now things are moving out across the plains into Nebraska and Kansas in the next several days.

More rain tomorrow. I am still dry inside with all my utilities available.

I am very thankful to have been spared.

September Flooding in Colorado
Posted on Sep 13, 2013 2:23 PM

I just went out for the first time in several days.  The sky has turned back to it's normally gorgeous blue instead of ominous gray.

It seems I only blog when the weather turns.  Perhaps I should have been a weather person. J

For much of the summer we had intense heat so we welcomed the change when it first became overcast and dark.  But after 24 hours most of us were ready for the sunshine to return.

When it began to rain, and rain and rain it was really strange.

Now so much of our beautiful state has been inundated with water and many have lost homes and a few have even lost their lives.

My plants look OK.  Since they are mostly succulents they should drain quickly and do OK.

Here it is May 1st and it is still snowing
Posted on May 1, 2013 1:31 PM

We got 6-12 inches of heavy wet snow overnight and more coming down.

Am hoping this is the last until late fall.

I just want to vent a little.

I am not sure I am cut out to be a perennial gardener.   This thing of waiting, hoping, watching is driving me crazy.

I have been through bouts of despair, followed by hope and now I am back to disappointment.

The plants that I thought had survived the winter, got really nipped and bruised by the last cold snap and tonight is scheduled to be another records setter cold.

I guess if some survive until May 15th I will consider myself blessed.

More Snow Delays Planting
Posted on Apr 17, 2013 5:08 PM

I have these plants to put in pots and now end of the snow today. --- They do say we may get out of this pattern by Friday-Satuday.

Freezing rain and freezing mist is a real problem.  Plus the winds are causing glare ice all over the place.

So glad I do not have to get out in it.

I want to put my plants out.  50s by Saturday, maybe.

So I will have to wait until after Mother's day as traditional wisdom says.

I wonder if they will withdraw the drought designation.

Good moisture for the high country.  Some of the lakes and steams will

begin to get back to normal.
