Thank you both.

Hey, Natalie, eating any ripe tomatoes? I picked a Better Bush and a Patio tomato and I will be compairing flavors on the two. I loved the first Sungolds and now I have to wait for more of them to get ripe.

I just picked my first 5 grape tomatoes about 10 minutes ago! They were about double the size of what I'm used to, almost like a small Roma. Got about 5 more yellow cherry to pick, but I had to check the ice cream maker first. I'll go gobble those up in a minute! I've been giving away zucchini and yellow squash for a couple of weeks, and can't keep up with it! I also picked my first yellow cucumber yesterday, along with three pickle cucumbers! Looks like it will be a great year in the veggie garden!

Thumbs up I have been picking and eating Salad Bush Cucumbers, which I have planted in a bowl planter. But I have so many cucumber types in ground but nothing ready on those yet. The ones I started from seed myself are not even flowering yet. No zucchini or squash growing here although next year I want to try ARCADIA eggplants which have smaller purple fruits. My pepper plant looked like they all died so will not be adding home grown peppers to stir fries this year. Bummer.

Natalie, do you have Juliet grape tomatoes? They do look like small Romas to me. Much bigger than the cherry types. My Juliets are still green but I bought some in the store last week and ate them.

Rita, they are Juliet grape tomatoes that I have. I grew them last year too, but they weren't nearly as big as these are. I honestly thought that I was picking Romas when I picked them! Now I'm wondering if maybe the tag was wrong! Either way, they'll all get eaten or made into salsa!

I have six Juliet Plants so really looking forward to them. 4 of them are in back of my driveway side daylily bed next to the wooden fence so not the best location for tomatoes. But still they are doing well. 2 I originally planted way in the back, that was too shady and they sulked. Then after I got those roses out and made the new veggie space past the porch, I transplanted those two Juliets there. I also have 6 VIVIA ITALIA there which are a Roma paste type that I have read good things about.

The Juliets I bought at the store were huge!

Natalie, great picture. Those look just like the Juliets I bought at the store. BIG!

Debra, thanks. It is quite unusual.

I just can't believe I am going around and cutting off done scapes already on the daylilies. Too early for this! My entire row of TIC TAC TOE is done, I cut the scapes and seed pods with them. Then had others down the sideyard that were totally done that I all cut already.

Rita, didn't you plant a bunch of Lupine last year? I finally got one to survive this year, which is amazing, since I've had the worst luck with them. I'll be shocked if it makes it through the winter.

Yes, I did and they all died. Well, three plants made it and are still here but all the rest died. I gave up and planted snapdragons in that area where I had the Lupine garden.

So sad Rita, because I remember that they were really pretty. I've never been able to get one to survive, or even do well here, but the one I planted this year has looked fantastic. I'm not expecting it to come back next year though. My Dad has them growing like weeds at his house and can't get rid of them!

I figgure Lupines are fussy. If they like it they grow like weeds but if not it is a struggle to keep them. I have a small stand of them over around the other side of my house by the rose garden that I planted three years ago and those do just fine.

Had some tomato taste testing again today. I had a PATIO and a BETTER BUSH so I ate both and compaired them. Liked the Patio better, less bland. But neither of these was any better than the EARLY GIRLS I have grown for years so flavors on both very dissapointing.
