I do remember the mini blind tip, but what do you write on them with?

That was what I thought they said, pencil. I did recently purchase a few Paint Pens and they do not fade like the sharpie. Thumbs up

I've used mini blinds for over 10 years in my gardens. The first thing I will say "Sharpies will fade out usually before a year has passed. I do not use them for anything other than writing on my seed packs.

Paint pens work real well but can be a tad messy.(on mini blinds). I'm a big supporter of pencils for mini blinds. I've used the regular old yellow #2 and have masses of them in the greenhouse. But, my favorite is a #9 lead mechanical pencil. These came from Staples and the ones I'm using were bought about 6 years ago. I love them. #9 lead is hard to break and bigger, thus you get a bolder line. I will list the name brand for Staples because the #9 pencil is hard to find at Walmart or most other places. Of course, you can use #5 or #7 but I find they break so easily and the good old wood pencil must be sharpened.

Speaking of sharpening a wood pencil, If you find yourself outside and need your pencil sharpened and don't have a sharpener handy, find a brick or anything concrete and rub the end of the pencil at the same angle that it was previously sharpened against the brick or concrete. It will put a very usuable point on your pencil.

Now, here's the info on the pencil I really like:

Pentel Twist-Erase® III Automatic Pencils .9mm, Assorted Colors, 2 Pack
Item: 474462 Model: QE519BP2

You will also need to buy some extra lead and be sure to get #9. You can't find this lead just anywhere. And if you're like me, put it somewhere you can find it!!! Big Grin

Someone mentioned that Robin (Earlybird) is selling a lot of her daylilies because of the drought. I am wondering if they will be healthy or not. I lost 3 to the drought this summer and I think I would be leary in buying any drought stricken daylilies. They may be really stressed and moving them stresses them even more.

Trudy,

When I first joined the Lilyauction back in 2002, it was much easier to get on there. The problem with Mike Longo (the owner of the lilyauction) is people committing fraud. I think what you can do now, according to someone else who was trying to register, is you scan your drivers license and send it to them. This is to prove who you are. But once you register on there you are doomed to spend ALL your money on daylilies.

Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing You are so funny Dot!

Mona - Thanks so much for the information about the #9 pencils. I will use them for the mini blinds which will work great in the pots for sure.
I purchased the 8" plastic sticks to shove into the ground and the paint pens are great for those. But I do not want to waste them on the potted plants, so good tip!

shirlee - Love that Spacecoast Starburst! Drooling Drooling Drooling Do you know where I can get one??

Earlybird Robin - Does anyone have a link for this??

I bought from Robin this spring as well as last year and they were in drought last year. Her plants are awesome. Most of them bloomed this year. Someone said that she had tankers in last year to water. Not sure about this year. My plants as well as my sons who also has some of hers have done fantastic. I would not hesitate to order from her. My cousin got some from Robin this year & she said they were AMAZING!!!!!! I would not hesitate to buy from her --- ever! If Robin has plants that are sub standard she would not sell them. She has integrity.

On the off chance you are not looking for Earlybird Daylilies, and are looking for the contact person about an AHS Round Robin, here is a link to the AHS page that lists all the AHS Robins. Some of the Robins are snail mail, some are online.

If you are talking about Robin of Earlybird daylilys --- they aren't seedlings but big, beautiful, healthy, fully grown fans. Shipping depended on when Robin could dig them & when they could be shipped to the zone they will be going to. I think Juli has the right of it --- that you are talking about a round robin & not whom I am speaking of.

I saw the Dorothy and Toto on the Herrington website. Love it. Lovey dubby

Just to chime in on Robin Calderon, I bought from her last year when that area was in a bad drought. She did bring in tankers of water and did not ship anything substandard and did give generously. She is a rock solid seller and in my top three resources, along with Maryott's and Bob Selman at Blue Ridge...uh oh...well, Trudy, there is another one for which you can point a finger at my enabling. About 3/4 of the daylilies in my yard came from Bob. You can order via email from his website, and he sells on eBay and through the Blooming Auction. (I buy via eBay).
