Thread OP
UK
Plant arrived to the UK from Holland in a very bad condition. I guess from having many days without water and sunlight. It arrived in very damp soil, with the bottom leaves mushy and dead. The top leaf arrived yellow and torn, and the other leaves are extremely limp and lifeless.

I have left the plant in indirect, bright sunlight for a few hours. I've not watered it as the soil is still very wet. I have misted its leaves very lightly.

Can anyone help me determine how to save this plant?

They do like a lot of water but they hate to stay wet, the soil should drain well. I would cut off all those damaged leaves and perhaps re-pot it in new, well draining, potting mix, bananas are resilient and it should come back from the corm. Do not add any fertilizer until you see some new growth then start a regular feeding program, they are hungry plants. Good luck with it. Crossing Fingers!

Excellent advice from Alice. That potting mix looks really water retentive. Too water retentive for a plant that is going to be grown as a houseplant. Those leaves are toast but I do see a brand new leaf emerging grin the crown, preserve that one ditch the rest. It should recover if you are careful with it

I agree, I'd give it some new soil with better drainage. On a positive note, you have the new leaf emerging, and bananas grow pretty fast. With some love and care, you should be able to bring it back around and have some fresh healthy leaves in no time. Smiling
