I have a large order of roses to be shipped from palatine to Hawaii Island at the end of November. Rachel has provided me with three shipping options only two of which are under consideration. They are as follows:
UPS Ground--$133.00
UPS second two day---$260.00.
Obviously, I prefer the UPS Ground option because it is half the price of UPS two day. But I'm concerned that this option will result in damaged plants.
I would like to hear from those of you who have purchased from Palatine and used UPS ground shipping.
How many days were your roses in transit before you received them. I am particularly interested in feedback from West Coast forum members. I can calculate the additional time it would take to ship from the West Coast to Hawaii.

Thanks for your help.

Dennis, I've always used UPS ground for my orders from Palatine, even one year when Rachel strongly suggested that I switch to two-day service because the upstate New York shipping affiliates were snowed in by blizzards. I don't remember the actual number of days my packages were in transit, but I know it wasn't a long period of time -- maybe 5 or 6 days? I have never received damaged plants from Palatine.

I've always just used UPS Ground. Also with orders from Hortico as well. I've had shipments take well over a week sometimes, and no problem with the plants. Sometimes they will sprout white growth due to no sunlight, but they quickly turned green once the plants got potted up. Or you can cut that growth off and start with new. But even over a week I never had any problems. Actually, if I remember, one time yrs ago one box from Hortico took two weeks! Still... no problem. You should be fine! Now if this were in Feb or March, I'd say NO!
