Hi all,

So before Christmas, I ordered some roses from Rosen-Tantau.com in Europe. I recently was sent an email from them to say that "phytosanitary certificate from the local phytosanitary office is now necessary" and this would cost around €70- €80 for an £8 plant.

So I wanted to find out if there were anyone nursery that import or I can put a request into that would import from the EU, surely someone that is importing more than one plant this cost might not be such a big issue.

Or does anyone have the following rose available in the UK for sale?

I thought, currently not only is London on "lockdown" (& that includes non-essential Garden Centres) while so is Wales, Scotland & Ireland, too !

Trying to get a Rose, at this time in the U.K, until the Covid crisis gets under control, you just might have to pay that Phytosanitary paper fee.
As you'd likely only get it by mail, sent from outside of the U.K.

Unless, possibly part of North Ireland is still within the E.U. & you can locate that 'Irina' rose there, (& that's if, they'll even send it to you!)

Otherwise, you may try being patient, & save yourself the extra fee.
(Even if some people have already just recently had their first inoculation.)

Actually I'm not sure that the Phytosanitary thing is due to Covid at all; it might just be because, with Brexit, England is no longer part of the EU, and therefore counts itself as a foreign country. Even before I think they had restrictions ; some plants were not allowed to be imported.

Usually the phytosanitary certificate has to do with preventing the spreading of diseases and pests. That's not to say money and politics couldn't play a role though.
