i am interested in gardening, but do not have much time to care for it, is there any plants which can grow well without much care? herbs, flowers are ok.
PS: better indoor plants, because i like container plants.

Hi elaerstelle - great question. There are a number of indoor plants that are wonderful and I'm sure everyone has their favorite. Here are a few:

Peace lily (Spathiphyllum) – handles lower light levels well and lovely blooms.

Spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum) - one of my favorites.

Pothos and Philodendrons – most of the varieties grown for indoor use grow downward like an ivy and make beautiful container plants.

ZZ plant (Zamioculcas zamiifolia) can survive in just about any setting. They are slow growers and have little demands for water and light, a very unique plant.

Aglaonema – Lots of colors and tough.

Aspidistra – the cast-iron plant. Tough and a favorite in Victorian times along with the Kentia palm.

For outside:
Daylily
Echinacea
Bulbs of all kinds, Crocus, tulips, lilies.....
Fennel....Black Swallowtail Butterflies will lay eggs on it! Dill & Parsley are host plants too that are easy.

I love fennel and dill and parsley. They are easy and fun. And great for the Black Swallowtail caterpillars too.

For outdoor/hardy containers, how about the hardy sedum and sempervivum?

I am in zone 5 and have very good luck with several perennials in out door containers.
In shade I like a hosta ,coralbell combo with a few annual inpatients or coleus added for color.
In sun I would do herbs, chives , oregano , thyme,all will come back and a staple to any kitchen then add basil (annual).
Herbs take less water than most plants and will still do well.

My favorite "unkillable" outdoor annual flowers are:

marigold (I like big African marigolds, but the little French ones are easy, too.)
zinnia
alyssum (they reseed almost every year where I live)
Sweet William / dianthus (biennial, I suppose)
California poppies (hard for me to get started, but then they reseed at least a little each year)

Best for me for indoors and outdoors both are BEGONIAS! The cheap ones that you buy in a six pack. I have kept them for years, with an initial purchase price of less than $1. I used to bring them in to my classroom for the winter and the cheerful blooms all winter long were such a bright addition. Over holiday breaks, when the building was closed and unheated, the begonias stayed alive. My kind of plant.

Outdoor plants:

For me it's...

Agastaches, also known as, Hyssop or Hummingbird Mint.

They're long blooming, low maintenance, beautiful, fragrant, attract Hummingbirds, Bees and/or Butterflies.

Most are perennial to zone 5 or 6.

Many new varieties being introduced over the years.

I agree with Daylilies and Echinaceas too.!

@CindikS thank you for reminding me of a happy memory.
We had a fourth grade teacher who loved her begonias. During long school breaks when there was no heat on in the school building, very special students were allowed to each take home one plant for safekeeping. My friend Nancy's mother was only too happy to have one in her home. And she always took several cuttings before sending the plant back to school. Nancy's mother was the person responsible for teaching me about all aspects of gardening.

My favorite easy to care for indoor plants are Philodendrons, Pothos, Begonia, Purple Waffle, and Diffenbachia.
Oh and don't forget the Christmas Cactus.

Outside. I don't know, still experimenting, ha.
