I did not do a single thing out in the garden today HA! Rolling on the floor laughing My reward for getting those bulbs done. Actually it rained hard overnight, everything is sopping but the sun was out this morning. Now however clouds again. Not clouds like it is gonna rain again, just no sun. It is cooler after that rain front moved thru also so I really had no motivation to work in the garden today.

Have been going on with my project of putting pictures in the database. Have all of 2013 to do, which I started a few weeks ago. Have gotten about 500 of my 2013 images in. Have lots more to go.

Ok, here it is.... I think most of you read the Porch Swing over on the Daylily Forum, but if you don't, you might find this interesting. Since this is an OT thread, I think it is ok to mention here. If not, let me know and I will edit my post and take it out.

Don't miss the new contest Sharon, Char and I are sponsoring --- we hope that it will be lots of fun! I sure did have a lot of fun writing up the "example" ... nodding

I had put grass seed and clover seed both out last week before the big rains. Thinking that the rains would start the grass to grow. Today I see it all starting to sprout. Hurray!

I had to fix up some of the grass I messed up with my digging to plant bulbs. Thought I could be neater but some spots just messed up the grass and needed to replant more grass.

I like white clover in my lawn. So I always mix clover with my grass seed. The honeybees just love it when the clover blooms and so do I. For some reason clover blooming reminds me of summer days when I was a child.

Some Anemone bulbs just arrived today. I should go plant them. But I have read that you should soak them before planting so maybe I will do that. They are not really bulbs. Not exactly sure what one would call them as they really look like pieces of dried up dog turds! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Good thing the flowers are pretty. Never had Anemones before. I am hoping they will like the spots I have chosen and perennialize here. I bought an Anemone Blanda mixture. Otherwise or often called Grecian Windflowers or just Windflowers.

I didn't think anemones were winter hardy. I really like them, too, but don't think they'll survive here.

woofie, it depends on which ones you plant. Mine were in 5a, and did just fine. They always had at least 3 feet of snow on them all winter, because we would shovel the snow off the walkway onto the area that they were in. I have no idea which ones we had though.

There are different types of Anemones. I think that the summer blooming ones are not winter hardy but don't quote me on that as I am not sure. The Anemone Blanda are called Windflowers and are fall planted for spring bloom. Then if they like the location, they come up year after year just like spring bulbs like daffs and crocus. Except they are not truely bulbs but who cares.

I plan to put mine out front where I have my Long Trumpet Daffodil mixture planted. Not sure if they will bloom under the daffs at the same time (they are very short) or bloom after the daffs are done. Either way is ok by me. I just want the spring color.

Debra, I didn't think this kind needed an excess of water as they go dormant after bloom just like a spring bulb.

Mine all bloomed in the Spring, and they weren't very tall. Some get to 4 feet tall or more! Some of the summer blooming ones are hardy to zone 4. There are many to pick from, for every planting situation. Some like more shade, and others like full sun. I don't know why I didn't think about getting some for here. They would be perfect!

I think they are all known as Windflowers though. Not positive, but pretty sure.

Oh okay. Somehow I thought only the spring blooming short ones were called Windflowers. Mine are supposed to be very short. Maybe 4 inches?

It is just a glorious day outside today. Wish it could stay like this all the time. Mainly, I just have been enjoying the day.

I did put out some Hollytone on my blueberries. And I put all my trash out by the curb for pickup day tomorrow. I have been cleaning, well decluttering, the house for the past few days and had lots of stuff for the trash.

My next garden chore is cutting down and composting the eggplants. They did really great this year and there are even still flowers. But I think it is too late for anything to come from them and I am tired of watering pots anyway. The pots did work great for the eggplants though and I will definitely be doing the eggplants in pots again next year. But for this year, I have had enough. Hilarious!

Here it is end of September and I picked cucumbers and tomatoes again today. Sitting here eating a nice cucumber and tomato salad right now. I know I have never had cucumbers fresh from my garden this late ever before and often by now the tomatoes are pretty shot also. But this year the tomatoes have outdone themselves and the cukes have been just fabulous also.
