Ladylovingdove said:Well I bought them. I consider "reserved" waiting to pay for them next spring. That is what I used to do, now I use my seed money from this year to pay for next year. I have come up in the world now, lol.

Sacha, love it, a new orange for me.

So next years seeds will come from these crossed to Dragonfly Dawn and Waves of Joy. Also Born to be Wild which I got this fall.

Dot, is this your picture of Sacha?? It's not in the data base and it's a new intro. I wanted to add it to my want list so I can drop by and drool once in a while. Go to Water Mill Gardens. It is the Trimmers photo. This is a 2014 intro. I won't have it until spring. Their new things don't usually show up in the AHS database for awhile.

Dot: 'Saffire Summer' is so you! Reminds me of the 'Guy Douglas' seeds I brought from you last year...which is now almost a 1 yr. old seedling. And you wrote me you were downsizing! Uh?

My fav Trimmer intro, hands down, is 'SUNFLOWER BLUES'......unique and unusual in color, metallic eye pattern, and 6" bloom. Drawback is scape size. But truly gorgeous, gorgeous flower face. Yummy! "MACKENZIE'S RAINBOW' would be my second choice, and JANE'S PRISM' is my number three. Love those three, but after seeing them, immediately locked up my credit cards. Who knows what those 'crazies' in the US Congress have up there sleeve when February rolls around next year? Watch this space!

I am just finishing up my seed buying on the LA for this year with lots of exciting new toothy crosses, and pretty patterned eyes seeds.(Polston, Klehm, Bremer, Townsend, DeCaire, Hansen, Niswonger, Dionne, Benz, Emmerick, Gaskins and the other usual suspects round up most of the hybridizer's names of the amazing crosses I purchased). Now I just have to find more room for all my seedlings. Opening a new seedling bed next Summer will be my most pressing priority, and re-organizing my daylily garden for more space. Yes, I will definitely be downsizing the amount of dl plants I buy for 2014 by half as I chart out new found territory and re-organize.

Sacha is $200.00 so I guess it does not matter that much. Whistling

We did! Dan said it would sell out quickly because it is different. I had reserved it back in September when he came to a daylily meeting we were attending.

They've put my name on a waiting list should one come available. I chose it over ANGEL LOVE since I have quite a few seeds from the same cross. Dan (or Jane) told me via email that it went almost immediately but they do have some small plants that may be shipping size by spring.

James, hope you are able to get SUNFLOWER BLUES in the spring. We are also getting ANGEL LOVE. I have two holes dug and ready for spring planting. Hope nothing else comes along and claims those holes.

When you take some time to think about these gorgeous patterned eyes of Dan and Jane Trimmer, it really comes down to the birth of 'Dragonfly Dawn'. This plant has really opened the door, for I believe, years to come for exciting patterned flowers. 'Dragonfly Dawn', and it's kid, 'Waves of Joy' introduced last year, will be the hallmarks from which many new patterned daylilies will be flowing for a long time, including new plants with patterned teeth. If you are a hybridizer, 'Dragonfly Dawn' like 'Jellymaker', years before, is a must to grow in your garden. Bravo to Jane and Dan Trimmer, and to all the lovely kids like 'Sunflower Blues' that are coming out of 'Dragonfly Dawn', and will continue with 'Waves of Joy'. Hurray! Thumbs up

Alex, I agree. Dan told us that DRAGONFLY DAWN will put a pattern on anything. We should bloom our first seedlings next summer. We have now had DD for two bloom seasons. We are looking forward to seeing what we get.

Doris, I hope you post some of your new sdlgs. from DD on the forum for all to see. I brought DD last year from Michelle, and from its first bloom I knew right away that it was a very special daylily. Next summer I will use its pollen on my best patterned dl's. Yesterday, I dug deep to purchase 'Waves of Joy' from James Hall. He always sends me beautiful big healthy plants. I am always a year behind in buying the newest intros as my pocketbook dictates exactly just how much I can spend. That's why I love looking for unusual and creative seed crosses on the LA. Yesterday, I won a cross that may have great potential for patterned-eye. 'Guarding Gnomes (Hansen) X TET. Exotic Pattern' (Converted Carpenter). Fingers crossed that I can get these seeds to grow into happy seedlings. Would make a nice cross with DD.

We want to see YOUR seedlings, too. There are so many possibilities that have the potential to produce outstanding, cutting edge daylilies. We are loving all the patterned eyes. David has made some interesting crosses with our patterned daylilies. Who knows what you or we may get!!! That's the fun of all this and what keeps us hybridizing. I would love to have WAVES OF JOY and considered ordering it from the Trimmers for next spring. Instead, I decided to go for two of Dan's 2014 Intros (Sunflower Blues and Angel Love). Maybe we can add WOJ in another year or might get it on the Lily Auction (trying to stay away Big Grin ).

Doris, I look forward to seeing your newest acquisition, 'Sunflower Blues' pix growing in your garden. Thumbs up The best pix always come from our members here on ATP. As for he LA, what can I say, it's addictive. However, this year the seed selection, has been and is a plethora of extremely creative crosses. Whereas, I didn't feel the 2013 intros with the exception of the new toothy plants introduced and a few new patterns, 2013 was a very blah year for intros, imho. Teeth are definitely here to stay....and knock-out patterns with large toothy edges are the promise of things to come. Whistling

My order from the Trimmers arrived today, and they sent beautiful huge plants, two to three fans each except the bonus plant which is an absolute clump! Here's what I got:

ANGEL LOVE
DAN'S GARDEN PARTY
JANE'S PRISM
PARROTS OF THE CARIBBEAN
COSMIC KALEIDOSCOPE
CRIMSON REFLECTIONS (gift plant)

Wonderful order! So spring has definitely arrived in California -- 80 degrees here today!

I will get my box from Trimmer on Monday. They are also sending me a huge box of plants to use for our Regional meeting in May. Dan Trimmer will be our guest speaker at our club meeting on Monday night and he will be bringing plants to auction off also. I really appreciate them sending plants for the regional especially a huge box of them.
