Nice to see neat arrangements Greg and Mark!

My garden outdoors is a mess during this time of the year, with all the leaves scattered about. The succulents outside are doing well so far. It has gone chilly here too at nights, but still warms up to low 60's during the day so the succulents are still faring well. No rain for now is good for them.

I have moved the more tender succulents & other tropicals indoors since October: no special lighting, just by the south facing window on our 2nd floor.

Wow, never thought to sell the stuff I prune off of branches that are heavy with extra limbs or stuff that fall off of my adult succulent plants. Especially never thought to sell the leaves...

I leave the cacti out all winter, though I have to really reduce the container size, have been chopping off rotten bases every spring. So the size is greatly reduced already. I have learned now to do a container in a container method for some of the cacti, that way it does not say too wet a long time when it rains in winter.

Yes we are east of San Francisco, more inland, away from the coast, so we get the triple digit summers and chilly temps with rain at times in winter.

That sounds like are really lovely place! Always love the coastline as long as it is not rainy Smiling

Lol Garberville... thats that little hippie town up north. I will never forget that crazy place... there was this little tiny hole in the wall building that they were serving specialty nachos out of.

It's name was "Nacho Mama's" Did not try it, but to this day I'm still laughing about it. Thats been like 8 years now..

I think your trees are one of the tree Aloes - possibly Aloe ramosissima or dichotoma.

I had one of those Ficus - they're a favorite of bonsai folks. I might be wrong, but I think that the "caudex" in this case is actually a root instead of a water storing stem. Anywho, I treated it like it was a ficus and ended up giving it to one of the bonsai fanatics I volunteer with.
In the end, only kindness matters.

Thanks Sheryl and Hetty! First row does look more like a Dracaena draco or a Dracaena cinnabari.

I think the plant on the 2nd row last photo is the tree aloe..isn't it Sheryl??

When I saw the trees, had to really beg my hubby to stop so we can get a proper shot..love those well defined branches and lush leaves. Smiling

Wow, Dracena? It makes some sense, I've just never seen them reach that height and girth.

The first two shots in the second row look a lot like Aloe arborescens (gorgeous, no?). The last one does look like a tree aloe, I'm not sure which one. Maybe A. bainesii (aka barbarea)?

Regardless, really neat shots - thank the DH for slowing down, lol!

My Aeonium arboreum is pouting this Fall, one of the plants with the longest stem is bending, stem feels firm, not soggy, but it just continues to bend. I thought it was trying to follow the sun, but seems weird since the other stems are not doing it. This tallest stems tried to make some blooms this summer but was unable to do it, buds blasted, so instead it formed mini rosettes at the tip. I wonder if the stem just wants to fade away gradually..

Photo last October 2013 - all stems standing high

Has anyone encountered similar thing on your Aeoniums?
