In the Morning, and Candy Colours just got added to the wish list, looks like I better do some serious culling next year. I planted Ballerina Queen in 2012, the hot summer, and it didn't bloom last year. It has increased nicely though, and should bloom this year. Good to see a nice picture of it. It's -15 here this morning, which is 6 degrees warmer then predicted. But the wind is very strong, making the wind chill cold. One more night of this cold weather and then it warms up to a low of -6. I sure hope your trees make it, Brad, That would be expensive to replace them all, and they just aren't that winter hardy. I gave up on roses long ago. I have one that is really just from root stock that grows like a weed, but that's it.

Granny I'm glad you like Iconic it is a really nice Flower I am partial to those dark burgundy/ Reds and your right the pictures help get us through until spring I have enjoyed looking at all the different threads here lately gives me a lot of good ideas and keeps my Wish List growing nodding

Mary Ann it is a nice pink what I liked about it was How late it bloomed I only had one other still coming on when it bloomed and that was Kitty Kay always the last pink in my garden. This was my first year with it blooming and I kept it when a lot of other pinks didn't make the cut.

Tom it was miserable today the truck registered -18 for actual temp don't know how accurate that is but anything with a - is horrible to have to do anything in. I have been lucky with my Roses and Jap Maples the past few years I always mulch them Heavy and try to keep the roots insulated well but this year may be to much for a lot of things. I always try to cheat our zone with different plants and lately we have been lucky but nothing we to do now but wait and see it wouldn't be so bad if we had a lot of snow cover but the high winds have left just a dusting on my berms…

I thought I would share some pictures tonight of some clumps in the garden, what is always impressive about visiting Schreiner's and Mid America Gardens is seeing a big clump of a flower in peak bloom gives it a completely different look. I don't have the room to grow a hundred bulbs of anything like they do in there display gardens but I do have some that I really liked this year and I thought looked good this spring. A couple of these are Older Iris that I have had for a long time and are excellent plants (Wishful Thinking) is the pod parent of (Fogbound) and in my opinion is one of the best producing Iris ever it has over 100 plus kids and the other is( Romantic Evening) it has over 170 kids and both are still producing awesome plants if you have room I recommend getting these two they are excellent growers.

Well, here goes, I see 5 or 6 more I will have to add to my list of dreams! These are some pretty super looking clump shots. I don't remember seeing Pretty Witch before, it's really nice.

Just fantastic photos, Brad. You're right that a clump is what it's all about. Even a relatively plain Iris is pretty in a clump -- and a stunning Iris makes it a traffic-stopping thing of beauty.

I agree Tom -- Pretty Witch is gorgeous. My pick of these was Fashionably Late -- followed closely by Super Hero and Secret Recipe. Not to mention Chestnuts Roasting. And No Place Like Home. Omigosh -- they're all amazing. Lovey dubby

Oh Brad, I agree with everyone's comments! Iris seen in clumps often diminishes the 'value' of a particular trait in that iris that we love most. Favorites are based on my iris preference but here I see Secret Recipe standing out due to its white outlines on the blooms. Keeps the booms from blending together from a little distance and as pale as Catwalk Queen is she seems to be floating among the iris leaves. Again, based on my personal preference but - They... Are... Awesome! I love seeing clumps from a distance as well as close-up. Some clumps call you from far away and you just have to investigate. All of your photos are beautiful.

4 degrees here this morning and dealing with some frozen water pipes. Cross your fingers that this will NOT be a major event.

Got a question for anyone who has an answer. My puppy jumped on the keyboad of my laptop -- and ever since, all of my pictures are humungous. Close-ups that take up the entire screen. What has she done? And how do I change it? Thanks.

Mary Ann, I do not know what puppy did but when the information on my screen shrinks due to hitting multiple keys I can press control and the plus sign and it grows. That may work in reverse by pressing the control and minus sign. You would have to be on the page where things are out of sorts. worth a try maybe. Good luck.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful photos Brad! I think maybe the hybridzers should pay you for all the sales you are generating for them.

Drooling over your iris makes January somewhat bearable. Just like everyone else is mentioning.... the wish list is growing.

I love your Electric Candy, does it grow well for you? Does your Landgraefin Elisabeth compare to it at all?

Thanks all I'm glad you like the clump pictures it definitely gives the plants a different look I really enjoy seeing all of them blooming that way. It should be better here this spring for clumps I normally move them all and divide them but this year I ran out of time and room will have to make some hard decision's next year on what to keep.

Bonnie hope your water pipes turned out ok our news said plumbers have been crazy the past couple days with pipes freezing and bursting, what a mess this cold snap Thumbs down

Heather I have liked Electric Candy ever since I seen it in Barry's Catalog should of ordered it then but I wanted to wait to see it up close and personal and it was better than I thought just beautiful colors and big healthy plants, I have pictures of it in the database growing In Keppel's garden it looks the same here. The other one you asked about Landgraefin Elisabeth has a nice ruffled flower but it is really not even close as far as quality at least in my opinion both nice but Electric Candy is a must have.
