Yay, I got my root veggies planted along with some more lettuce, chard and radishes. Did some mulch and row covers then a bit of weeding. I'm tired, but it's a good tired. Tomorrow, pot up seedlings to take over to farm for babysitting while I'm away.

Pretty much just hanging around here yet...trying to wish the snow away. Attempting to sprout some lettuce indoors, but I've never had much luck with it. Also working with a few tomato and pepper seeds, although it's probably too early for our conditions this year. Still buying greens at the grocery...we don't even have edible weeds yet! Hilarious!

Soon, Chelle. Soon. We're still going to get in the 20's at night this week so everything has to be covered. I have two tomatoes out in Wall-O-Waters too. They should be fine, I hope!

I guess you will find out how great those walls of water work. Let us know how the tomato plants do.

Oh yes, it is gone for a long time now. Hopefully we don't get more but there is a chance for Tuesday/Wednesday for snow.

The edible "weeds" are up and the grass is just beginning to green a bit. Won't be long now.

I love growing tomatoes. And I just love the smell of the plants. It makes me feel young and lavish.
The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.

It's 14 degrees this morning (almost 8AM). High today expected to be 34. Overnight - snow. Not a lot, but maybe a couple inches...... Definitely NOT gardening weather.

Wednesday morning has me worried. Forecast calls for 27. In addition to the foam and glass I'm going to put 4 10' x20' plankets I have on the boxes and finish the row out with moving blankets. I'll fold the plankets triple so maybe that will get them through. The inside of the boxes has been down to 27 degrees before, but it must not have been there for long because only one plant is looking knarlly. The rest are in pretty good shape. I'll try to take some pictures when I go out to remove the foam and put the glass in the vent position. I need to install heaters in each of the boxes, then this would't be a problem. Claud

Yep, snow coming here supposedly on Tuesday night into Wednesday. I will never get my spring peas planted at this rate.

Seriously, they said into the 60's by the weekend so I am planning on planting them then. Maybe I can sow some seeds also. I would love to get my lettuce but it might be too early. Want to get some turnips in also.

Y'know, a packet of seeds contains more than I have room for plants, so WHEN I CAN GET ALL THE SUPPLIES HOME WITHOUT A CAR, I can start a few that I could replace if they died off....

I kind of just realized that.

Just an update on the tomatoes in the Wall-O-Waters. We hit 27 Tues. morning and tomatoes are just fine, save for the ant mound being built around the base of one. When I get back in town it will come off and knocked about and sprinkled generously with coffee grounds!

Arlene, that is very good to know that the tomatoes did so well inside those walls of water. I am really considering buying some. I have been thinking on it for years anyway!

This weekend the cold is finially supposed to leave us and the weather turn warm. Forecast for 60 or over. I intend to plant my peas and also to work on my veggie beds.
