The red one looks like Yaguruma to me.

You're right .. looks exactly like that .. Is Yaguruma one of Emmas?

It is a long established Japanese cultivar.

That's a very pretty one Anne. I like the clearly defined spokes of white accented with the triangles of color.
When I made my rounds this morning I came back to this pretty purpurea as it opened. It has quite a large flower for a purp.

It used to woofie. Two or three seasons ago it was one Park sold as "Split Second." This year I decided to grow seeds I gathered from those original plants and this is the result. It was variable then so I am interested in seeing other blooms from this generation.

Did the original have those cute little shreds?

Some of the blooms from the original seeds had no shredding at all and others were highly shredded. This is a photo of what I considered the best of them.

Very pretty! But, actually, I like your second generation ones better! Best of both worlds to me! Smiling

Here's the 2nd one that definitely not Yojiro .. the color is not quite right .. it's a deep purple (darn digital camera). I used the flash on it and tinkered with the color a bit - it helped somewhat .. without the flash it was coming up Royal Blue.

Anne that is another nice one. Youjiro means ”ray white”, referred to the white spokes. The one in your photo could be Maisugata?

That is so very, very strange .. I don't have a clue as to where these seeds came from .. they were in a packet of Home Grown Youjiro. I was wanting fresh seeds .. here is what I was expecting:

Nice blue, is it Ipomoea nil? It's a nice blizzard pattern but to me it doesn't look like a youjiro flower pattern.

Yes it's a nil .. I got the original seeds about 9 years ago from Becky or maybe it was Gourd and they were labeled Yojiro. The mix through the years have taken on many patterns .. this is aggravating! Here is a picture of 3 plants growing up the post at different angles .. some do look like the Youjiro flower pattern. So if these aren't Youjiro then what are they?

I do see the youjiro flower forms in the latest photos. As I recall, both Gourd and Becky liked to do cross-pollinating so maybe this is one of their creations?

Probably right .. the seeds I planted are F5's of the original batch - how amazing is it that the two seeds I planted (out of a packet with at least 50 seeds in it) just happened to be reversions of different colors!

Ipomoea hederacea was waiting for me when I returned from work. I like how the blue in the rays turned pink.
