We didn't get a drop either.

Nice ones all, Ursula. I love the lip on Darwinara Walnut Valley and great color on the Vanda.

Bert, I also bet that Paph won a ribbon.

Better late than never, we had a little 'back door' storm bubble up from Venice, and are getting some gentle rain now. It's at least going to wet the thirsty plants.

This one looks like it might actually drift up your way, if it holds together that long, Jim.

Does anyone have an idea of this ones name? It was in the exhibit setup on Friday at the recent Memphis AOS Show in May. I could not get back there like I had planned, but I bet it won something!

I can find out for you, Roberta. I was there all weekend and I think I have photos of the displays with the tags.

Here is what I have blooming now (that I have photos of). Green Grin! Dendrobium unicum and Zygostates alleniana. I am anxiously awaiting the bloom of my Paph Guacamole (I just love the name).

Ooo, love that pretty orange Den, what a fabulous lip on those.

The Zygostates is really tiny isn't it. I have a native from here that's similar in size, Enc. magnoliae but no sign of wonderfully fragrant tiny blooms yet.

Roberta, I tried to find awards from the May Show, thinking it might have garnered a ribbon. I am glad Melissa from Memphis jumps in to help! Thumbs up
I love the Den unicum, nicely bloomed. Must smell nicely! Pretty Zygostates too.

Yes the Zygo is really tiny. I think it qualifies as a micro-mini. I have two species. The alleniana and lunata. Both are very good bloomers blooming every year on schedule. I am trying to grow them as specimen plants, but they grow SLOW! It will be years and years before I get the size I want. In the meantime, I'm enjoying the blooms. They are so cute! nodding

I seem to remember that Phrag was displayed by Windy Hill. I'm pretty sure it was AOS awarded, but I'll have to check at the next MOS meeting. Hubby did not take photos this year. *Blush* I'm sure that I will find it for you.

I don't remember the unicum having a scent, but my sniffer is acting up from a sinus infection. I'll have to check it out. This is the first blooming for me (I've killed 5 of these). This species tends to be challenging for me.

OMG, thx Melissa! It's probably gonna cost me an arm and a leg. I finally bought my Mexipedium from Marilyn just over a year ago, after pining for it for years. She always has just what I want. Well worth the 5hr drive.

Melissa, I love your Den. unicum and just put it on my want list. The hunt begins.

Den unicum? Sorry Jim, you are not crazy about him, I bought mine last year from Andy….it was a fairly small plant, but it is putting on growth now.
The scent is sort of Apricot/Orange/Peachy with some pretty floral aspects, very nice! It needs to have some sunshine on the blooms to be able to get the scent.

I was puzzled too, but I think Ursula means

Too bad you don't like Andy, because he's got the orchid your want . . . Sad

OK, that makes sense, thanks, Elaine. I've already found it somewhere else but haven't ordered it yet. I'm done with Andy.

Atta boy, you stick to your guns there!

I won't order from Andy either, partly because he ripped you off, and also because I've always thought his prices are ridiculous.

Wonder if he ever looks at this forum . . ? Big Grin

I remember that Jim is not that thrilled with Andy, but he probably has that plant. That's why I said "sorry".
But good for you, you found another source.

Hi Jim,

Clown Alley always has a good selection of Dendrobiums. John and Sandy are super nice. I got mine from Russ Vernon at New Vision Orchids. He is very nice as well.

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with Andy's.

Hi Roberta,

But she has such NICE plants and she is wonderful to chat with. I purchased several goodies from her this year at the show. She always has group pricing, which is nice when you are on a budget.
