Yep a Goldfinch. They flock here about this time of year .They are winter birds too but color changes. I will save coneflowers and zinnias for them this winter.

Beautiful shots of the goldfinch. I think it's trying to make a color echo.

Oh that is pretty. Does it smell as good as it's name Angel's Perfume?

I enjoy seeing everyones pics on this thread.

I have been growing all of my annuals from seed (inside under lights) for a few years now. Some go in beds, some in containers. Here are a few pics I took this morning.

The Tower Aster is a beauty.
Here are my Zinnias. I can see I need to quadruple the number for a show next year.

Thanks - I love the asters, and am not sure why they are not as popular as zinnia (less intense colors maybe?). They hold really well in a vase. They are not as tall as the Benary Giants, but they are long stemmed. I have had problems getting most asters to germinate, but these seem easier. The Tower aster seed is sold as a mix (Johnny's), but the salmon is by far my favorite color. I may let a couple go to seed this year and see if I can save them, though I doubt they will breed true.

Jo Ann - your zinnia look fairly young. they will continue to put out laterals this month and you should have 3 times as many flowers before frosts roll around. Your garden is lovely.

Geof, thanks for your tip and encouragment. Zinns are new to me.
I was looking at late summer photos last winter and noticed a lack of vibrancy. I had seen these zinns in town and jonzed for some.
