So, is it an SX50 they sent you or a different model?

They may be coming out with a newer model with higher zoom in the very near future. I think my husband said the guy mentioned something about a possible SX60. Hubby asked if I'd want that one but I said no, I'll wait for an 80 or 100 zoom before considering another camera. Green Grin!

Lin, those are great! I could sit and watch the birds a big part of the day sipping a cup of tea, if I only had time.

Finally got a camera after my other one started grinding every time I turned it on. Every pic looked like I was shaking. Took these with the new one, I love it!

Cat,

Wow, you got some wonderful shots! I too wonder what the Chickadee is doing sitting in the middle of that seed ball ... maybe it wants to hog all the food for itself. Smiling Love the Cardinals and the Downy and gee, that sure is a gang of Doves on the ground there! I sometimes see a bunch scrounging on the ground beneath a feeder but never that many! How fortunate you are to get both the male and female Ruby-throats!

By the way ... what kind of camera did you get?

Lin Thanks!

They have gotten where they are waiting in the morning for the seed. There's one male cardinal that fly's back and forth calling (I think he gets to excited and can't decide where to perch). Hilarious! If I have not filled it up soon enough for him in the morning he calls until I come out. The mourning doves and sparrows wait on the power lines above. That's why I call them "The Gang"

The male woodpecker and humming bird are from yesterdays pictures the others are from today. The woodpeckers are regulars to the suet but the mafia (not pictured earlier, starlings) usually mob them off of it Glare I try not to discriminate against any bird no matter their color but some can really be a nuisance! I am really trying to get them used to me so I can get some good pics.

Their are what I believe is a pair of Blue Jays that are still pretty skittish. They usually fly over and give that loud call when "The Gang" is on the ground like in the pic, those birds are All gone in a flash! Blinking I really think the Jays do it on purpose, Hilarious! . They have been flying by and snagging peanuts and just starting to stop at the feeder. In the last few days I have seen two new (well new to me anyway) birds stopping by. I believe one is a Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher. Not sure on the other. Snapped a couple of the gnatcatcher but they move fast and the pics were blurry. Saw a humming bird chasing one, not sure what that was about. Shrug!

Anyway the camera is a Fuji S4800. Nothing super fancy but not a bad camera at all for what it cost. I picked red (choice of red or black) and the hummers seem to like it. Big Grin

Cat, I know what you mean by trying not to discriminate against some birds ... but sometimes it's impossible not to. Smiling We have the grackles and red-winged blackbirds during the winter and all spring here; they come in gangs and raid the feeders, keeping a lot of the other birds away. We have lots of Blue Jays here, they are year round residents and although some consider them bully birds, I've never noticed them being bullies. They do screech when there is danger (snakes, hawks etc.) in the vicinity but I've also seen them imitate the call of hawks to frighten other birds into hiding and then the Jays hit the feeders. Smart birds! Green Grin! We have lots of year round resident Cardinals too and sometimes there are quite a few around while other times I only see a few visiting the feeders. This year we had lots of babies, both Cardinals and Jays and they are so cute to watch.

Well ... I'm out of here, have a few errands to run and then around 4 O'clock we are going out for an early anniversary dinner before the restaurants get crowded. We thought about driving up to St. Augustine to one of our favorite places but it's supposed to be stormy later and hubby is giving final exams for the summer semester today so we decided to stay local. Don't have a clue where we're going to eat, not sure what I feel like yet but it'll probably be seafood. I love the coconut shrimp at Bahama Breeze so I might see if I can talk him into going there for dinner. Have a great day everyone!

Wow. 45 years. That is an achievement. I tip my hat to you.
